Welcome
Welcome to Strabane Academy
It was Aristotle who said that, “We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence is not an act, but a habit.”
Within these pages we have tried to capture something of the spirit of school life and convey the sense of pride we feel in being part of this community. As you view our website, look out for the many opportunities that we provide which help students develop positive habits for life.
It may be how we extend learning beyond the classroom; through sports, Languages, Duke of Edinburgh, opportunities to travel abroad, practical life skills such as wood working and the culinary arts, work-based learning, leadership opportunities and the school council all of these are enriching on many levels.
Mr D Hampton

What's Happening
The team have had an opportunity to visit some elderly with food parcels and to see a traditional Hungarian ‘good room’. Mrs Aiken got dressed in a traditional Hungarian women’s outfit. The team are enjoying some free time this weekend and are off to visit the second oldest city in Romania today.

Our team have been running a youth programme for the last two days. We’ve had to adapt our plan due to the rain but everyone has been having a great time and are enjoying getting to know the local young people and the cats. ☺️

Yesterday after lunch the team had training in kids work and youth work followed by a training session helping them to prepare for working with a translator. Following this they went into the village and played football and dodgeball with some of the local children. In the evening the team competed in a quiz night and clinched the win thanks to some impressive dance moves ☺️. They have also been learning about Faith in the Unseen, Faith in uncertainty and Faith in Jesus from the book of Hebrews. A full and fun-packed programme.

The team have settled in well to our launch programme in sunny Sutor. Our travels all went smoothly and we arrived safely yesterday at lunchtime. On our first day we enjoyed games, times of Bible study and teaching and a camp fire. Our day culminated in erecting our own shelters for ‘bush camping’ last night. The girls were very pleased with their engineering skills…the boys stole a marquee (there is some debate over whose shelter was better). After an early start this morning we have enjoyed a relaxed morning and are gearing up for games this afternoon. Everyone is doing really well.
